while cleaning out my closet

I found this bag of candy while cleaning out my closet. I think it's from that Halloween party we had in high school.
... while cleaning up my closet ...


I presume both of the above versions read as well, but there are subtle differences. And the following is what I've in mind about their differences. Correct me if I am wrong. Thanks.

... while cleaning out (unwanted stuff from/in) my closet ...
... while cleaning up (=completely=entirely) my cloest ...

I agree too. You have very good instincts with English, Angliholic. Keep reading in English! I can clean up my closet by making it tidier. I desperately need to clean OUT my closet and get rid of stuff I haven't worn in two years.
