While

Hi,

Is the following sentence grammatically correct?

ex1) I was watching TV while she slept.

I know it's normally the case that the time length of the event in the subordinate clause is longer than that of the event in the main clause.

ex2) I got a text message while I was working out at the gym.

But I'm not sure if that holds true for all 'while' clauses.

I think the exact opposite of what I just stated in the beginning can very well be true as well: it seems possible that I started watching TV before she began sleeping and continued watching after she awoke from her sleep.

Could anyone shed some light on this? Thanks.
