Which/what day of the week

Hello.

If you tell him your date of birth, he can tell you ___ it fell on.

A) what day of the week
B) which date of a week
C) what day of some week
D) which day of a week

The given answer is A.

Why D is not okay?

And What are the differences between "what day of the week" and "which day of the week"?

Best Regards.

I would have said "which day" myself, so I don't know why it would be wrong. There's not much difference in this case between "What day" and "Which day" in this case. "Which" is used when you choose from among a finite number of choices.
