Which word is frequently used!

Recently, I am memorising vocabulary by learning all relative words.

Resist

I found only these six words in the advanced oxford dictionary.

Resistance
Resistant
Resistible
Irresistible
Resistor
Resister
I found another six words in the yahoo dictionary.

resistibly
resistibility
irresistibly
irresistibilitty
resistive

Amphibian
I found only this word in the oxford dictionary.
Amphibious
I found the another 4 words in the yahoo dictionary.
amphibia
amphibiotic
amphibiousness
amphibiously

The problem is I am really confused by which words are useful and which words are useless.
, which words should be memorised and which words shouldn't be memorised.
Could any native speaker give me some ideas?
In my opinion, the words that I find in the yahoo dictionary won't appear in the foreign writing like news york times, times, walt street and so forth,as native speaker doesn't use them. However, I am afraid that it is wrong.

Many thanks in advance
