Which word is correct in the sentences?

Which word is correct please?

I finished my homework just as/right when the microwave rang (indicating/letting us know) the food was ready.

I kept building/doing the legos and my little brother kept unbuilding/undoing them.

The backpack straps were too tight/small and I couldn't get the backpack in my back.
Take the backpack off/off of your back/shoulders.

Thanks

I finished my homework just as the microwave rang indicating (that) the food was ready. I kept putting things together with the legos, and my little brother kept [pulling / taking] them apart. The backpack straps were too short so I couldn't get the backpack on my back.
