Which word is correct?

Which word is correct?

He is getting more and more confident as the fight goes on is going on.
He gets more and more confident as the fight goes on/is going on.

Looking/By looking at the resume you would think...

(From/by) looking at his room, what would you say his living room looks like. [Can you leave out from or by?]

If you press the button the water squirts up/upwards.
