Leaking or dripping?

There was a leaking faucet that flooded the place.
There was a dripping faucet that flooded the place.

The faucet is leaking.
The faucet is dripping.

Here is the difference. Dripping - water comes out from the faucet spout.

Leaking - water comes out from joint or pipe connection(s). i.e. you have a leak at the shut-off valve. It is also possible to have a leak at the valve handle and the plumbing.
