Which word in this group is different from the others and in what way?

a) information; b) advice; c) news; d) suggestion

My Answer: (d) is the odd one out because it is the only singular, countable noun. We say suggestions when using the plural form. The other items are uncountable nouns which have no plural form.

Could you please advise if this is correct and a good explanation? I am working on the pre-interview tasks for my CELTA application.

Many Thanks.

These multiple-choice tests are tricky - all choices may be possible in some sort of way, but you have to pick the best choice out of the four; American students have been tearing their hair out for generations over multiple-choice tests. I'm a native English speaker in the US and your choice is reasonable on some level, but I would choose instead, a). The reason is that advice, news, and suggestion all imply some (usually human) agent that delivers them, while information can be very abstract, for example, something you read in a book.
