Let's say today is Tuesday, and if someone says something like this, "Next Thursday we are going to...", does this person mean Thursday of the same week (which is 2 days from today), or Thursday of the coming week? Thanks

It is very confusing to me. But I just found out, unfortunately, my professor meant this coming Thursday which is tomorrow that we are supposed to bring to class a task to present, phmm. I really did think she meant Thursday next week when she said "next Thursday", then I remembered in English it might mean a different day from what that would if spoken in my language.
