Which tense would be the best to use here?

A: Would you like to join us for dinner?
B: Yes. I (work) so hard this morning. I didn't eat anything.

You could use worked or was working . The whole phrase is a little awkward as two sentences, though. More natural would be Yes, I was working so hard this morning that I didn't eat anything.

Could I use present perfect? What the sentence would have to look like so I can use present perfect tense?

I have been working so hard this morni
