Which tense should I use for the questions?

Hi teachers,
If I have a text with the synopsis and dialogues in simple present, simple past, present perfect, present perfect continuous and even future, can I ask questions from the text in simple past, present perfect, and present perfect continuous? I mean, it's not necessary to use the simple present and future for the questions, is it?
Or should I use the same tenses that are written in the text for the questions?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Clive,
Thanks!
Short is impossible, they are not short.
My question is more on general basis.

Hi Clive,
Sure. Here they are:
The Whites got up and had their breakfast together in the living room.
Where did the Whites breakfast?
Now George and Mrs. White are not at home; they have gone to the market.

Hi Clive,
So, it's okay to use the same tense as the text has, isn't it?
