Which tense should I use to say that some action didn't finish by now, and which by some time in the past? Would Past Perfect do in the latter case? (i.e. "The Iron Throne had not proved welcoming to a king by the end of the last season.") And Present Perfect in the former? (i.e. "The Iron Throne hasn't proved welcoming to a king so far.") Or something else? Thanks.
