Are the tenses correct in this sentence?

As you get/are getting closer to getting back to full health, you will start to smile more and more.

Is it natural to say “do you expect will”? Having 2 verbs one after the other sound off.

Would you use “expect” or “are expecting”?

How many people do you expect/are you expecting will come to the party?
