Which tense and word is correct?

1 He is becoming/has become a better player now that he is healthy.

2 When does a client become a regular/When is a client considered a regular?

What could be a potential answer to question 2?

1. One becomes ‘better’ in stages, if he has been playing during the regaining of his health; so it might be better to state:
“He is becoming a better player since regaining his health.” or
“He has become a better player since regaining his health.”
If, instead, he stopped playing until he regained his health, I would suggest:
“He became a better player upon regaining his health.”
