hey H A as i guess there are some words that may help you in your research first of all : " would " come with some words as an offer We use " would prefer " to say what somebody wants in a particular situation -not in general like :- • " Would you prefer tea or coffee" .... "Coffee, please" We say "would prefer to do " - be careful (not "doing") for example : • "Shall we go by train? " "Well, I'd prefer to go by car.

  • ( not " I'd prefer going") • I'd prefer to stay at home tonight rather than go to the cinema Would rather /I'd rather Would rather (do) = would prefer (to do).
  • After would rather we use the infinitive without to • " Would you rather have tea or coffee" .......

As far as I know, all stative verbs can be used with 'would'.

'would', like all modals, takes the base form, so you can't follow it with an -ing form, for example, but that applies to all verbs, not just statives, so I don't know what you're getting at.
