Which sounds natural/ unnatural

#1 When I finished it and was going to go home, I noticed that something was not right

#2 When I finished it and was about to go home, I noticed that something was not right.

#3 When I finished it and would go home, I noticed that something was not right.

Please tell me which is natural and which is not. In addition, is there a more natural way to say this?
