Which sounds correct.

Hi

I'm stuck on a sentence in part of a paragraph to a friend.

Which sounds correct?

"I'm sorry but I know nothing of those types of competition."

or

"I'm sorry but I know nothing of those types of competitions."

I figured that because I pluralised 'types', that competition would not require an s.

Thanks

In my opinion, you may use either one, since "competition" may be countable or uncountable. Competition in the singular is stuff, and competitions in the plural are events. "

Competition in the singular is stuff, and competitions in the plural are events.

Similarly, you could say "those types of food(s)."
