Which sentence makes more sense?

I have 2 versions of a sentence, but not sure which one sounds better, or makes more sense.

a) In disbelief at what had just happened, I shook my head, and then got out of the bed.

b) In disbelief at what had just happened, I shook my head, and then got out from the bed.

It's only a one-word difference, however, it seems to indicate very different things.

Any ideas?

Definitely "got out of" for me. I would also lose the article. Well, unless you really want to emphasize that you got out of that one particular bed -- but I don't think that's the case.

Definitely "got out of" for me. I would also lose the article. Well, unless you really want to emphasize that you got out of that one particular bed -- but I don't think that's the case.

What do you mean by 'article'?

I'm thinking the sentence may make more sense by removing 'the'.

'I shook my head, and then got out of bed.'

"got out of (the) bed" is the normal expression describing the normal process of leaving a bed. If it is your usual bed, that you use for the normal process of sleeping each day, then omit "the". By including "the" it sounds as if you are in a different or special bed.

"got out from the bed" is not usual. It sounds as if you are trying to describe something more complicated
