Which sentence is correct and why

I am a bit confuded about using the invintive form in the first sentence and is it correct to write just the simple present form of the verb.

1- This is one of those cases of the programming language telling you that....
2- 1- This is one of those cases of the programming language tells you that....

may someone clerify me please!

#1 is correct. telling is an adjective (verbal). It is not an inflected verb, as in #2.

#2 is incorrect.

#2 can be rewritten to be correct:
This is one of those cases
