Which sentence is correct?

Which sentence is grammatically correct?

It was June when we got married.

It was in June when we got married.

Top answer

Only the first one is correct and natural because "when" in your sentence is equivalent to "in which", so using "in" before "June" is superfluous. Best wishes, Joseph

If you want 'in June', use 'that'.

It was in June that we got married.
