Which sentence is correct?

Hello,

Here is the context of these sentences. I have an umbrella in my hand and I'm talking to my friend. He asked me why I've taken an umbrella.

1) I have taken this umbrella in case it rains.

2) I have taken this umbrella in case it rained.

Which option is correct?

One more question:

Thanks in advance.

Which option is correct?

As far as the tense is concerned, (1) is correct, but, assuming the umbrella is yours, it would be more usual to say:

"I've brought this umbrella in case it rains."
