Which sentence is correct

I responded to the point that was mentioned by him.
I responded to the points that he mentioned.

I responded to the points that was stated by him.
I responded to the points that he stated.

Another question: I think I can't place stated and mentioned at the end of the sentence with an object, am I correct? But it sounded correct to me without checking the dictionary, do I really have to check or is it better to check the dictionary to make sure if the verb is transitive, intransitive or ambitransitive before using it?
