Which sentence is correct?

Hi,
I met a sentence in a book:
1) "The most valuable find of all was the ship's log book, parts of which it was still possible to read."

If I wrote, I'd like to scrape the 'it' from this sentence, that is:
2) "The most valuable find of all was the ship's log book, parts of which was still possible to read."

Which is correct? 1) or 2) ? Thanks!

Top answer

" Which is correct? 1) or 2 ) #1. If you want to make 'parts of which' the subject of the second clause, write #2 as The most valuable find of all was the ship's log book, parts of which could still be read.
