Which sentence is correct?

I created the following sentence;

"Each day a worldwide workforce of around 100,000 employees serve more than
two million hamburgers to some one million customers."

I have been told, however, that the verb should be of the form: serves
So the sentence would be:

"Each day a worldwide workforce of around 100,000 employees serves more than
two million hamburgers to some one million customers."

Which sentence is correct?

Thanks,

David

Yes, 'workforce' is a mass noun, so it takes the third person singular '-s'. Since we visualize those 100,000 servers, however, few people would notice the disagreement of subject and verb in your sentence.

Hi, could you please confirm that the following sentence transformations are correct? ( A into B, C into D)

B: Have you ever wondered what the world's number one retailer is?

C: Have you ever wondered what company is the world's number one retailer?

D: Have you ever wondered wh

Hi Bob,

Transformations are fine. I prefer B and D for clarity.

'What' should be 'Who' in A and B, as a 'retailer' is a rather personified entity. I would also prefer 'which company' over 'what company' in C and D, as there is a limited number of mega-retailers.
