Which pronoun?

Hi,

Today while explaining Capitalization in punctuation, my English Teacher wrote:

  • He is better then I.
Is he right in using that? I heard 'He is better then me', but never the above one. He actually wanted to explain that wherever I comes, It's written in capital.

Hi,

wherever I comes, It's written in capital.

wherever I comes, it's written in capital.

He meant the word 'I', not that all words that start with the letter 'i' require a capital.

Yes, (He is better than I or He is better than I am) both are correct sentences. I do not think that "me" will be used in any case while comapring. I have seen the usage of "mine" but not "me".

Abdullah SaleemHe is better than I.
Fine as corrected.

All of the following are acceptable.

He is better than I.

He is better than I am.

He is better than me.

The example given on your provided link is: (older than I am). I did not find any example of (Btter than me). I challange you that "He is better than me" is incorrect sentence. You can say that "He is better to me" but you can not use objective case after "Than"

My dictionary (American Heritage) considers the "preposition" analysis "less formal," but the objective case is not incorrect.

If you look more carefully at the "provided link" at Merriam-Webster, you'll see the following at the top.....

You must then click on "2) than (preposition)" to read the explanation. Emotion: nodding

Actually, you are challenging me that "He is better than me" is a correct sentence.

You challenge someone's claim, not the reverse of the claim!

Click on the definition of "than" as a preposition and read the usage notes there.
