    I've never even seen this classification of processes before, and I don't really see the use of them, but I'll take a guess anyway:
    1. We cannot build a gracious inclusive society if we continue to

    Hi

    Thanks for your reply. Not sure if the following will help to make things clearer, the processes are actually different categories of verbs. Hence
    1. Material is Action verbs
    2. Mental is Sensing verbs
    3. Verbal is Saying verbs
    4. Relational is Linking verbs
    Therefore will your answers differ after this?

    I have another sentence which I'm unsure of

    .
    #4 then means linking verbs, as in be, become, seem? Then my answers to going and did are wrong, but I don't know what they are-- I was thinking of 'relational' as referring to time/tense.

    Hurt, I suppose, is material here.

    thanks for all the reply. I have another 2 words which I'm unsure of.
    “He’s my world. He’s my best friend, no question. He’s always there,” he was quoted as saying by UPI.com

  • the training was put to use when Mr Stalnaker suffered a seizure.

    Is it always the case that 'suffer' will definitely fall under Mental process (Sensing verb)? B

    I don't think that suffer is always a mental process at all, particularly as in your sentence, where suffered a seizure means underwent a seizure, had a seizure-- material.

    Quoted is verbal, I presume.

    My guesses:
    1. They all belong to the most advanced group in the animal kingdom.-- mental
    2. the machines across the island have had their parts stolen-- material
    3. live in the sea-- material
    4. .

    Belong = relational

    You're highlighting the auxiliary verbs which are used to show tense, rather than the lexical verbs, which are the verbs that are analysed in terms of processes. I suggest you have a look at verbal groups.

    E.g have had stolen

    Stolen = material

    Hope this helps
