Which preposition is correct to use here?

Sentence: Today the market order was not working with some shares. Or.
Today the market order did not work for some shares.

Question:Which preposition will be correct to use in the above situation, for or with? The use of preposition with and for with the word work creates a lots of doubts and confusions. Kindly tell the difference between their meanings for better understanding.

Thanks

Kind regards

I'm guessing that "the market order" is some kind of share trading mechanism, and "working" refers to this mechanism being operational. In that case both "with" and "for" are possible and mean the same thing. I slightly prefer "for".

  • The choice between "was not working" and "did not work" is not linked to the choice of preposition.

I don't know why it is 'in'. Is the person correct?

Kids these days have too much say in what they are allowed to wear to school.

When looking for a building, you ask someone what number this building is because you have the address but not sur

"in" is correct. Preposition use in English can be unpredictable. There may be no obvious reason why certain prepositions are used in certain places. Unfortunately you may have to learn patterns individually.
