Hello

After having a course that lasted 8 years, John became very qualified at/in/on/for/to English.

Well, thanks so much.

"He's very qualified for the job"
Why is it "for" here?

If someone can be qualified for something, why can't we say s/he is also qualified for English?
Regards.

A job is a position, 'English' is a field.
