0Your book is wrong. Only D is correct, because it does not require a comma before it; A and C do. B laso seems possible to me, but the meaning is a little odd, since 'to the extent' suggests a limited amount, while the rest of the sentence shows that math is loved wholeheartedly.0-

C might work if you change the other words as suggested, but in these exercises you cannot change the other words. You could make any answer fit if you changed enough words.
