Which paragraph is more natural if there's one?

Hello,

Which paragraph is more natural if there's one?

After the right one there's an associated dialogue, then a new paragraphs starts and we move suddenly onto the next scene. Because the story uses separate paragraphs, implying changes of scene, is it possible to use the present progressive because all the situations are going on at the same time, like in paragraph B?

Paragraph A

Laura puts the glass on the coffee table, but Peter isn't drinking it. She sits in another armchair and sees (observes) that Peter is thinking and worrying about something. So she asks Peter about his problem.

Paragraph B

Laura is putting the glass on the coffee table, but Peter isn't drinking it. She sits in another armchair and sees (observes) that Peter is thinking and worrying about something. So she asks Peter about his problem.

I appreciate your help.
