Which or what

What country are you from?
Which country you are from?

I'm seeing a lot  use of what instead of which, does Grammar permits or it makes any sense?

We normally use which to select from a group of possibilities we are presented with. A group of country names is not usually given to choose from in this situation, so the more usual question is What country are you from?
