Which option suits best?

HI.

He wouldn’t be the star he is today -------------- a good impression in his early films.
1) if not made 2) not having made 3) had he not made 4) if he didn’t make

My guess is number 4. Number 3 doesn't make sense to me at all.

"He wouldn't be the star he is today had he not made a good impression in his early films."

This structure is a little bit weird to me. it doesn't have ' If ' as a conditional type 3!
