1. Sturm was the son of Angriff and Ilys Brightblade, and was born in his family’s ancestral castle on the plains of Solamnia.

It's generally better to have the (direct)(simple) right at the front of the sentence, unless what came just before makes starting the sentence with the parents' names the better choice.
