Let me concentrate on this pair:

Upon reading the responses, i check the dictionary I have, which is the Collins Cobuild Advanced Learner's English Dictionary and saw that it listed the word "usage'' as both countable and uncountable nouns, but gave two seemingly different definitions for the two.

The countable meaning it gave, I think, is a meaning that word that a word has or way it can be used and the uncountable meaning it gave, I think, is the way in which the word is actually used, so it follows that the first one means in the sense it can be used and the second one is in the sense it is actually used?

Confirm please.
