Which one of the sentences do you like the better?

Are both sentences fine? Which one do you like the better?

1) A terrorist runs out of the building. Tom raises his gun, but before he can pull the trigger, Sam, another police officer, shoots and kills the terrorist.

2) A terrorist runs out of the building. Tom raises his gun and is about to pull the trigger when, Sam, another police officer, shoots and kills the terrorist.

Hi Both of those are pretty good. In the second one you have one too many commas, the one between 'when' and 'Sam': - Tom raises his gun and is about to pull the trigger when Sam, another police officer, shoots and kills the terrorist. I slightly prefer the second Dave

Hi

Both of those are pretty good. In the second one you have one too many commas, the one between 'when' and 'Sam':

- Tom raises his gun and is about to pull the trigger when Sam, another police officer, shoots and kills the terrorist.

I slightly prefer the second
