Which one is "more" correct?

Hi,

"I think I found what i've wanted all along"
or
"I think I found what I wanted all along"

Can you also explain why?

Your timeline seems wrong to me. I would say "I think [present] I have found [present state due to past event] what I wanted [simple past] all along".

Well, if the "finding" took place yesterday, "found" makes sense to me.

How was your shopping trip? I know you've been looking for some navy pumps.
Oh yes, I think I finally found the pefect pair - what I've been looking for for the past year!

Well if you found them yesterday it should be: "what I'd been looking for" or "what I was looking for". Shouldn't it?

What if it's a lasting action?

"I think i found what i've been looking for" (girl) ?

If you have found what it was you were looking for then you are no longer looking for it hence the state is not ongoing so should not take the present perfect.

I still think you can use "have been looking for" to stress the length of time you were looking. If I was looking for my keys for two minutes and found them, that's different than looking for the perfect pair of shoes for three months.

Is it right to say:

"I think I've found what i've wanted all along"

Thanks!

Yes, in my opinion, but only JUST after you have found it. You can't use that for something you found last month.

I don't know whether that is acceptable according to prescriptive grammar but it certainly sounds ok to my ear.
