I have a sentence: "She's always wanted to go to Italy."
Why the sentence using verb 'wanted' instead of 'want'? Is it because in that sentence 'wanted' is not a verb but an adjective? Could you give another examples of this pattern?
Many thanks.

quebec62, It's because "she's wanted" stands for "she has wanted", making it a verb in the Present Perfect Tense. Anton
