Which one is correct? "Waiting time" or "Wait time"?

Hi,

I am wondering which expression is the correct one to express the time that you'll need to wait: "waiting time" or "wait time"?

Also, can anyone provides some general rules regarding this kind of combination "(verb+ing + noun)" ?

Thank you.

xtao general rules regarding this kind of combination "(verb+ing + noun)" ? Unfortunately, this is a matter of usage rather than grammar. Both forms are often possible, and it's a matter of what people choose most often.
