Which one is correct, please?

1. Our exam date has been cancelled.
2. Our exam date has been cancelled.

I think, 1st one is correct. Because there is no action.

These are OK:
Our exam date has been cancelled. (Context: the week / day / month before the exam was scheduled)
Our exam was cancelled. (Context: returning from the exam room where the professor did not show up.)
