Which one is correct? Anybody can help?

Which is correct, A or B?
A. What do you think is the most important thing?
B. What do you think the most important thing is?
Somebody said A. But I don't know why.

I have no objection at all to your answer because both are well received in every day usage. Though I am far from a purist, it may help us if we spend a little more time to think about the possible difference between the two sentences.

A. What do you think is the most important thing?
B. What do you think the most important thing is?

It could even be argued that they mean different things. After all, the following do:

1. Tell me what is green.
2. Tell me what green is.

I think the first "what" is a relative pronoun, and the next one is an interrogative pronoun.
