From then on I played basketball everyday until I got admitted into university.

Consider this example.
Tom applied for admission to Oxford in November, 2017.
He was offered admission to Oxford, and accepted the offer, in January 2018.
He went to Oxford to begin his studies in September 2018.
In other words, getting admission and going are two different things. Which do you mean?
