Grammar

which one is correct

The artist Giovanni Antonio Canaletto was born in Venice in 1697. His father Bernardo was also an artist, so he almost certainly learnt from his father. In 1746, he went to London and stayed there for nine years. Most of his paintings were of the River Thames. He wasn't keen to travel. It seems England was the only other country that he visited. He had developed such a reputation among rich English collectors that he wanted to benefit from this. Some of his works were made up of scenes which, to me, looked chocolate boxy and unnecessary. Why paint something that isn't there when you have so many beautiful natural scenes? Some of his paintings that he painted while in England were exhibited in Dulwich Picture Gallery in 2007. I went to this exhibition and it was amazing. His paintings of Westminister and Walton Bridge were incredible. He had a brilliant eye for detail. All of this made him an astounding painter. Canaletto died in 1768 after a short illness.
