Which one is correct?

1)By proper switching of the remaining switches, the machine will work fine.
2)By properly switching of the remaining switches, the machine will work fine.

Thank you for your response. But being natural is not really important for me just now. I just want to know whether I should use the adjective or the adverb form, i.e proper or properly, before the word "switching". I'm not sure which one is correct.
