Which one is correct?

Damages are mainly paint damages

or

Damages are mainly paint damage

I was told by my friend that the second one was correct.

I'm still unsure, as I can't find any reference to it in ay grammar book. Little help please, what is it called in grammar?

'Damages' are the monetary costs or losses paid out to the claimant who has initiated a lawsuit before a court and has won a case. Damage, in the sense of a change for the worse, has no plural form. In view of the these facts I dare say both sentences are nonsense.
