Which one is correct

I' m not sure what answer is correct:

1. a) It could have been worst.
b) It might have been worst.

2. a) If he hadn't taken doctor's advice, he could have died.
b) If he hadn't taken doctor's advice, he might have died.

3. a) I could have bought the book if I had remembered.
b) I might have bought the book if I had remembered.

Any advice about this type of problems - be sure about these modal verbs? Thanks!

1) For a start the word you need is worse not worst. a) ok b) ok but less common - I would say this would normally be used as only the start of a phrase (It might have been worse if you had phoned him first). 2) the doctor's advice a)ok b)ok 3)ok b)ok.
