Which one? I will tell / I tell.

Hi teachers,
Person 'A' receives a message on the phone. The following one:
A: Can you tell Peter that I already have Kate's copies?
Person 'B' is by chance dialing Peter at that very precise moment.
Should he say:
B: I will tell him.
A: I tell him.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Jim,
Thanks for your reply.
Is it because still future? Because he is not talking to him yet. Right?
What if they were one in front of the other? Will it be future too?

Yes, and because it counts as a spontaneous promise, a situation where we use I'll.

CalifJimMaybe you should clarify what you mean. Can you show me the dialog you envision?

Peter is in front of 'A' at that very precise moment.
Should 'A' reply:

It's the same.

I'll tell him. It's still a spontaneous promise either way.

It's quite strange to use I will instead of I'll, by the way. Use I will if you're leaving out the rest of the sentence.

Can you tell ... ?
OK. I will.
