Which one?

Hi everyone

I used to think that " I am looking forward to see you" is correct but I always heard "seeing you" instead. How are they different? Thanks for any help

I am looking forward to seeing you OR I look forward to seeing you.

Hi Willie

The grammatical reason for the ing-ending is the fact that in this case to is a preposition, not a part of an infinitive, and in English the gerund (= ing form) has to be used after all prepositions.
