Which on is wrong?

Buses carry more passengers than any other form of public transportation.
Buses cost less to operate (1) and use less fuel to carry a passenger a given distance
(2) than are airplanes, automobiles, or trains.
In addition, buses have a good safety record, especiaaly (3) compared with cars, With more people (4) riding in buses, fewer cars would be on the road.
A decrease in the number of cars in use would save fuel and reduce air pollution and heavy traffic.
So cities encourage people (5) to go to and from work by bus instead of by car.
