Grammar

which of the two sentences is correct, or more native like?

1, the course has made me be more aware of the importance of an appropriately designed dictionary.
2, the course has made me more aware of the importance of an appropriately designed dictionary.

Grammarwise, I thought the first one, "make sb. be more aware of sth", was correct, but I only hear people say it without the "be". Maybe I didn't hear people properly. What do you think?
