Which of the two questions (asking whether or not one has money) is more preferable?

The question “Have you any money?” is not only grammatically correct but also acceptable, a grammarian says. I notice, however, that most speakers of English, native or non-native, seem to prefer the question “Do you have any money?” in both speech and writing. Is my observation the same as yours?
